Polynomial Functions

2.1 Quadratic Functions
Poly- Many
Nomial- Terms
Terms- can be added/subtracted
Variables- can be mult/divided

A Polynomial Function is in the form of:

The value of n must be a whole number, and the coefficients are all real numbers.
The degree of the polynomial function is the highest value for n where an is not equal to 0

The Quadratic Function

The Standard form of a Quadratic equation

Why put it in this form? It is much easier to read and shift/transform when graphing.
A convenient and easy method is Completing the Square
Eg.

The first step is to move the single number (6) over as far as possible

Take half of b then square it

Simplify/factor it
